Artistic depiction of the last two weeks.

I've been sick on and off (luckily just colds, nothing major), attended two final critiques, written and performed three presentations, picked up extra work shifts, started packing up to move back, and drew a half-dozen minicomics (like this one).

I am feeling relieved, but also congested.

It just keeps getting shorter and shorter!

You might recognize Lamp from an assignment I did a year ago, but they're now joined by Zisi <3. I created these little object-creatures specifically as simple designs for quick black-and-white comics. They're both about 3-4 inches tall, so lots of opportunities for shenanigans!

This assignment: draw a six-panel comic, redraw as a three-panel comic, and finally redraw again as a one-panel comic, all with the same plot. How'd I do? (Spot the differences between the redrawn panels!)

It's the last day of the Spring Undergraduate Exhibition, and no one (besides me) has found the Easter Egg yet!

Even with all the technical difficulties, headaches (metaphorical & literal), and hours of listening to my own songs over and over and o v e r, I'm glad I managed to pull it all together for the exhibition.

Drew this quite quickly - four pages in a busy week! - which means some parts of it were more rushed than I'd've liked. Quite proud of the font-matching to the linework here though!

What's a good title for this? ("Have you thought much about the garden" is the filename right now.)

This came from a fairly detailed prompt by a classmate that I didn't quite follow; hopefully I can redraw it with a different creature design, since the one I used here isn't able to emote the way I wanted it to.

"It's Gonna Be Okay (real version)," aka a comic about grappling with the influx of AI generated work as an undergraduate student in an already undervalued field.

Opinions rant: AI, as an image technology, should occupy the same niche in art that beat loop apps do in music. Fun to mess with? Useful for inspiration? Absolutely. But unlike beat loops, AI databases have done next to nothing to secure legal and equitable compensation for their use of others' work.

I hope that lack of the ability to copyright AI generated images discourages exploitation, and further legal improvements are made. I am hopeful.

Struggled a little with this one, mostly since I wanted to write all Leonard's text by hand; an ill-advised impulse, time-wise. If I redo this comic (or revise...?) I think I'd prefer to use a font. Hand cramping is no joke!

I do not know sign language; I know 22 letters of the ASL alphabet, octopus, "all done," and cookie. I now also know how to sign why, thanks to this comic, for which I watched a dozen ASL videos. If there's anything I missed, please do tell me so I can fix it!

It's surprisingly difficult to conjure up a convincingly fantasy-ish scene, and there's a few elements here I want to polish up, but I laughed drawing it. That's the important part of art, right?

Perhaps the most quintessentially homeschooling thing I've ever done: math workbooks at the kitchen table. (For a given value of "done," of course.)
